The United States has published an article on its official website that revealed its intention to nullify every application for the Student Debt Relief Program. A Federal Judge rejected Biden’s plan of granting a debt relief initiative for U.S students. Therefore, the government has closed the application portal and its related activities.

Judge Overrules Biden

On Thursday, the Judge who presided over the court In Texas declared that Biden’s proposal was unlawful and needed to be reverted. Reports have revealed that the Judge was appointed by the former president of the United States, Donald Trump. The Jurist further explained that Biden lacked constitutional power to forgive debts without the consent of the judiciary.

However, the verdict has been appealed by the Biden government.

The United States President, Biden, stated, ” Our student debt relief service has been thwarted by judiciary ruling. There will be no room for accepting applications again because we are set to appeal the judgment.” Also, He promised that the agency in charge would keep all received applications until its victory in the court.

The U.S. Department of Education has reviewed over 16 million applications out of the 26 million petitions from Americans seeking student debt relief. A three-jurist council was established by the 5th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals to hear the case. However, the court’s headquarters is located in New Orleans and is governed by 12 conservative and 4 Republican judges.

No Debt Relief for US Students

Karine Jean-Pierre, the Press Secretary for the White House, affirmed that “the department would save application information. So it can promptly implement their relief once we prevail in court. “The United States District Jurist, Mark Pittman, labeled the program as an “illegal use of Congress’s legislative power” by President Biden. He accused him of ruling in favor of two lenders who had the support of the CAG.

The prosecution could eventually end up in the U.S. Supreme Court. Justice Amy Coney Barrett has already declined dual requests to obstruct the scheme in lawsuits from Indiana and Wisconsin. She revealed her readiness to preside over the emergency appeals from President Biden.
